When Kevin and I met in February of 2002, falling in love was the last thing on both of our agendas. We were on our way to a high school debating competition in Ottawa, and got chatting as a way to fill the five-hour bus trip there. After the tournament, we parted ways, and I never expected to hear from him again; but, as fate would have it, Kevin tracked me down, and a special friendship blossomed. We had our first date a month later, and we’ve been together ever since.

After six years of dating, everyone was expecting a proposal when I graduated from teacher’s college in May of 2008—that is, everyone except me—as Kevin managed to catch me completely by surprise! He planned a mystery trip for my graduation and birthday, and told me to pack a bag and bring a passport with me. I learned we were going to New York City just minutes before they cancelled our flight, and we ended up stranded overnight in Buffalo…

"Rachel and her staff
listened to my random conglomeration of ideas
and inspiration,
and turned it into a truly spectacular concept."
Kevin had planned an early morning proposal in Central Park, but delays meant that we didn’t arrive in New York until the bustling noon hour. Somehow, amongst the cyclists, exercise classes and buskers, Kevin found a quiet moment on a secluded path on Cherry Hill and went down on one knee. Shocked, I went down on the ground with him to see what was in the box, and then discovered that my knees were too shaky to get back up. He walked his flushed fiancée over to the Trafalgar Fountain to sit down, and we enjoyed a spectacular afternoon and weekend celebrating in the City before announcing our engagement at a champagne reception on Mother’s Day.

A complete wedding novice (Kevin and I each only been to one wedding before in our lives), I wasn’t certain where to start with the planning process or what precisely I wanted. But, as soon as I saw Rachel’s work featured in the Angus Glen wedding portfolio, I knew that she could make my visions come to life.

From my first consult with Josée, I knew we had found exactly what I needed. Rachel and her staff listened to my random conglomeration of ideas and inspiration, and turned it into a truly spectacular concept. I had not even walked into my reception venue yet when the first person raved about how beautiful it was, but even their ravings did not do it justice. The overall concept was absolutely breathtaking: soft and romantic, yet modern, just as I had asked. The guests were absolutely blown away, and it set the stage for an absolutely perfect evening!

Kevin and I cannot thank you enough for all your hard work and dedication to making our wedding picture perfect. Rachel, Jessy, Josée and the fabulous staff of Rachel A. Clingen – thank you for making my wedding dreams come true!
