Where do I begin to find the words to say thank you to Rachel A. Clingen Wedding Design?
Andrew and I both grew up in Sudbury, Ontario and we have known each other for over 15 years. We never dated but we saw each other often growing up as we went to the same high school and Andrew was one of my brother’s best friends. (And yes, they are still very close!) After graduating from University, Andrew moved to Boston and it wasn’t until years later that we reconnected at a friend’s wedding in Sudbury. Somehow, when we saw each other this time, there was a strong connection and we decided to give the relationship a try.
After three long years of dating between Boston and Toronto, I was finally able to move to Boston and soon thereafter we were engaged.
Andrew and I knew we wanted to be married at home in Sudbury but, being all the way in Boston presented many challenges. One of our main concerns was that the Caruso Club, the only venue in Sudbury large enough to accommodate all of our guests had not been renovated for many years. In fact, I don’t think the décor has changed much since my parents were married there 32 years ago. The reception room is very dark, the drapery is outdated and the ceiling needed work. We knew the Italian cuisine would be amazing but otherwise, the hall needed a complete makeover.
Since I was a very young girl, I have always been a keen follower of the latest fashions and style. For this reason, I was very concerned about how it would be possible to create the “look” and “feel” that we wanted for our wedding day. I was stressed and discouraged because of the amount of work this would require, especially since I was so far away and we wanted to stay within a budget. |

And then one evening, magic happened. I was ordering flowers online when I stumbled upon Rachel’s website. I was overcome with joy and relief. The very next morning, I phoned RAC wedding design and within a few hours, she faxed us a preliminary quote. I was nervous but, everyone at RAC was so kind and after speaking with Rachel directly, I was immediately at ease. She assured me that her team has designed weddings all across Canada and that coming to Sudbury would not be a problem. I am usually extremely skeptical but I was able to trust her immediately - over the phone no less and hired her on the spot! |
In the months that followed, Rachel was simply amazing. She was extremely accommodating and would meet me on short notice when I was in Toronto. After one conversation, she instantly understood the “look” and “feel” that we wanted and she guided me through every single decision in the entire process. I was amazed at her talent. She stayed true to my vision and constantly provided suggestions to make everything even more wonderful than I could have imagined. And she stayed within our budget, which made our parents very happy!
Andrew and I were married in a traditional Roman Catholic ceremony in front of 250 of our closest friends and family. The church was decorated beautifully. After the ceremony, we made our way to the banquet hall where the reception was to take place. The entire cocktail room was draped wall to wall with a peek-a-boo entrance into the main reception room. Before the guests arrived, my mom and I both took a peak inside the reception room and when we saw how beautiful it looked, we both gasped and started to cry. In that moment, I was utterly speechless.
I get chills every time I think about that moment. The draping, the lighting, the candles, the candelabras, the ceiling – the room was glowing. Everything was perfect. Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined the room to look so beautiful - it was completely transformed. Everyone we talked to complimented us on how this was the most beautiful wedding they had seen and the staff remarked that the venue had never looked so magical.
Rachel, you made our day absolutely perfect. You were a god send and I am so grateful that I found you and that you were kind enough to travel to Sudbury with your talented team to make our dreams come true.
